New year, new blog series! Do you ever stalk fellow bloggers' posts and wish you could sit down with them and talk about stuff and ask them questions? Well, I do. And that's why I decided to interview some bloggers I read on the daily and feature them on here so I get to share some of their thoughts and wisdom.

The first blogger I thought of was Audrey from Brunch At Audrey's because her blog was one of the first that I actually followed and checked every once in a while. Her blog focuses on personal lifestyle and touches on trips, daily inspiration, books and cafés and she shoots awesome snaps at that. Currently living around Philadelphia, she's studying computer science and linguistics.

1 What is your favourite thing you ever did?

Ever?? Oh gosh this is so hard! In August 2016 I moved into an apartment off campus and got a 10 inch memory foam mattress, which is a source of immense happiness every night. In January 2016 I did a Winter Externship at the Austin Fire Department, working in business intelligence, which was my first off-campus internship/job experience. In August 2015 I went to my first live concert, which was life-changing, and I went to another two in January 2016 and November 2016, and I’ll be going to another one in February 2017. Back in high school I traveled with my swim team and best friend to compete at a meet in Bangkok, which I think was one of my favourite meets in my seven years of competitive swimming. In September 2013, I started blogging and by some miracle am still doing it. Even with this list, I think I’m probably still missing a ton of favourite moments and accomplishments!

2 What do you worry about and why?

Getting a job after college. I’m a computer science and linguistics double major, so you’d think that I’d be set, but during my studies, I’ve found that even though I’m interested in computer science, I’m not all that interested in software engineering. And what makes me nervous about that is that all the computer science courses offered at my college are geared towards software engineers. I’m more interested in graphic design and front end design. Sometimes I wonder whether I should have just taken art courses with a focus on technology rather than technology courses with a focus on art. Right now I’m too far into my studies to not continue with computer science, but I’m going to try to be more active in finding opportunities to gain design experience.

And sometimes at my lower moments, I worry about whether I'm a good person, a good friend. When I'm in school, sometimes the stress catches up to me; I'll feel too wrapped up in my own world, and then I'll worry that I'm not contributing to the greater world, or even to the people in my personal life. I'll wonder, "What am I doing studying computer science? Why don't I just make art and make people feel things--good things?" Sometimes I feel so tired, like wherever I go I'm just sucking the energy out of the atmosphere. But on a happier note, I've just started a new semester at school, and I'm feeling reenergized and excited for what's coming. I'll be reminding myself as often as possible to make time for the people I care about.

3 Who has inspired you in your blogging experience?

I’ve been following The College Prepster for as long as I could remember. I love how she keeps it casual and has a mix of personal life updates, travel posts, fashion posts, and other lifestyle posts. A new follow of mine has been Love Taza. I love her documentation style of blogging and how she shares special moments with her beautiful family. Her kids are so energetic and filled with adventure and wonder, which I find is just as inspiring as her and her blog.

4 – What would you advise any young girl out there?

• Try as many things as you can.
• Read.
• Depending on how young we’re talking, read Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay.
• But also just read in general.
• And also: “You don’t have to play masculine to be a strong woman.” -Mary Elizabeth Winstead

5 – What do you appreciate in a good film?

A good soundtrack. Hans Zimmer is my all time fav. I also appreciate visually stimulating films and pretty colours.

6 – What is a thought that you have when you’re out?

Well, lately I got a new pair of heeled over-the-knee boots that I love, but I’m still trying to get used to the heel, so I’m often thinking about how I walk (no dragging! straight! with purpose! and quietly!). Haha but hmm what else. I’m often taking in my surroundings and looking for visual stimulation and potential photoshoot locations. But if I’m traveling somewhere new by myself, I get travel anxiety, so in that case I’ll most likely be running a map and schedule through my head.

7 Who do you look up to?

My friends. I’m in love with them. Every day I find myself at random points in the day thinking, “wow I love this about you,” “I want to be more like you,” “you’re a fantastic human being,” “I’m so glad we’re friends,” and/or “how did I get so lucky?” They’re smart. Clever. Sometimes dumb. Thoughtful. Kind. Strong. Driven. Funny. Random. Understanding. Quirky. Unique. I could go on and on, although I don’t think you could see my friends just from me listing a bunch of adjectives. I’d have to list each name one by one and then give you several specific things about each of them that I love, which would take way too long. But I’m sure you have this same feeling about your friends and get what I mean when I say I look up to my friends!

8 What topic in the world are you really passionate about? What do you want others to know about it?

Asian/Asian-American representation! Representation is so important. There are so many ways to show support by consuming, creating, sharing, etc. The most avid way that I’ve been showing my support lately has been by reading books by Asian/Asian-American authors or books that feature Asian/Asian-American characters (even if they’re not about Asian/Asian-American identity).

I hope you enjoyed this first Tea With ... series and enjoyed reading Audrey's amazing answers as much as I did!

Until then – stay groovy,

In the life

– I've decided to go with a pseudonym! More on the change here.
– Currently in exam stress and basically pre-writing most of my posts. The workaholic got ahead of me and now I'm in bed with a huge red spot between my eyebrows, an indicator for stress. Isn't that so great?Reading your comments to wind down help me stay sane, actually.
– I've completely changed the way I plan and organise my daily life, tasks and events. I don't think I've ever written a post solely about organising. So the post is coming up soon!

Watching

My Netflix game is strong in the background while taking notes for uni and revising at home.

  • Lie To Me – a crime show with pretty interesting studies on facial expressions and body language
  • iBoy – a Netflix original film
  • Jane The Virgin – I love this show to pieces. Everything about it is so fun, the cast, the narrator, the plot. So much love.

Music

I publicated a playlist of mine that I put together some time ago. It is Missing Wanderer inspired and I thought you'd like it on a hike or whilst planning your next trip!

  • Here are five things you should be doing to boost your blog's popularity! Thought this was post was clever.
  • This is why you can't afford to travel and how you can change it. This is something I have to keep in mind definitely.
  • Rebecca wrote a post about dealing with worry and being an overthinker which I found so accurate.

I am causing confusion at the moment by changing my name on my blog, my Disqus, my e-mail and on my Wattpad account.

Instead of my former nickname that I've been called for so long, I decided to go with a pseudonym because I am going into self-publishing and because I want to remain somewhat anonymous in case I reach a broader audience at one point. I wanted to go with my pseudonym a long time ago as I feel like my life and my blogging / writer personality seem to differ on some level but since some of you already knew me as that nickname before I even took on blogging seriously, I didn't want to change it or confuse you. But now I've decided to officially go with the name Arden Moore online and for writing matters.

I don't mind if you guys find my personal accounts and follow me, changing my name is just a personal matter and I know I can count on the people who know about my blog and my books to not "expose" me or whatever.

This was just a post to explain my decision and I hope you understand. I thought I owe you guys this explanation since this blog's readership is growing every day. Which I am so grateful for!

Again, thank you for reading and understanding!

Until then - stay cozy,

On Changing My Name Online — Using a pseudonym

Yay, another Q&A, what a surprise! I'm enjoying this series already. And I'm stoked to answer some more of your questions! As you guys know from one of my FOTWs, I am currently starting to record podcasts (and maybe also make videos in the future) so I have decided to include podcasts in these type of posts in the future, in case you want to listen to me talk (and add some details) instead of reading the whole post. Hope you enjoy, whether you'll be reading or listening in.

What's the best foreign food you have ever tasted?

I think the best foreign food I ever had was from the Korean kitchen and to be more exact, I absolutely love Bulgogidupbap which is a Bulgogi Rice Bowl. I basically eat this every time I go to my town's Korean restaurant. I'm definitely going to try cooking this at home as well. Here's a recipe!

Have you had any near-death experience? Mind telling us about it?

Nope, have never had a near-death experience and to be honest this would scare me a lot. But you guys, have you had any? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear about it if you don't mind sharing.

What's your ultimate dream?

My ultimate dream is to live happily with my mum, my sister and my best friend. I know, lame. But the most important thing in my life is indeed the relationship I have with my loved ones. I'd love to travel the world. I'd love living with my best friend in a shared flat in the middle of some artistic, busy town and share comfortable afternoons in coffee shops writing my books. And publishing them.

What are your biggest fears?

Failure (as in deciding to do or not do something and it turning out to be the wrong decision), drowning, losing the people I love, having my fears restrict me, being followed. Spiders.

A thing you'd sacrifice everything for?

My family, one hundred percent.

What are you going to move to London for? Will you be living downtown?

I'm going to be an intern for a travel incoming agency in London so that's why I'm moving there for six months before coming back to continue my studies. No, I will be not living downtown but in Harrow, which is about 20 minutes away.

What kind of camera do you use?

I use my iPhone 6s, believe it or not, and my dearest Canon 1300D.

What are your goals in the future?

Make blogger friends, make new friends in general, socialize more and push myself out of my comfort zone as well as traveling many places of the world. I want to write more stories, finish my current projects and publish them. I will also work on a sustainable, ethic lifestyle as well as I can.

Until the next Q&A,

Do you ever feel like your life should have a soundtrack? Just like songs playing in the background in some situations? Do you have songs that always teleport you back to a certain moment or period of time or person? There's this tag going around that I picked up from Lucy Moon's video and this is my attempt to browsing through the playlist of my life.

Songs you listen to when you're happy?

When I'm happy I love upbeat, sometimes even cutesy songs to keep my mood up as I stroll around. Some songs I probably listen to when I'm happy would be:

  • Junk Of The Heart (Happy) by The Kooks
  • Haven't Had Enough by Marianas Trench
  • Bright by Echosmith
  • Ironic by Alanis Morrisette
  • Who Do These Bitches Think They Are by Charlotte Nicdao

Songs you listen to when you're sad?

  • Objects in Space by La Dispute
  • A Little Braver by New Empire
  • The Scientist by Coldplay
  • What I Know by Parachute
  • Youth by Daughter

You know what, I'll just leave my rainy soundtrack playlist here because it's basically what I listen to when I'm sad.

Song you listen to when you're angry?

Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine is probably my go-to song because I really don't like being angry and this song keeps me calm about whatever is setting me off.

What songs do you dance around the house to?

  • Anything by Queen
  • Anything by EXO
  • Specifically Rhythm After Summer by EXO-CBX
  • Get Me Back by Mimi & The Mad Noise Factory
  • That Don't Impress Me Much by Shania Twain

What songs will you have at your wedding?

  • Beautiful by Baekhyun from Exo
  • Us by Regina Spektor

Song you play on your headphones when out and about?

Currently: Exs and Ohs by The Nicol Kings

Song that makes you lose your shit at a party?

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody

The last song you listened to?

In Too Deep by The Sweeplings

Your karaoke song?

Honestly anything from High School Musical, haha. Or Britney Spears because it's just so much fun.

Songs with the most memories attached?

Everytime by Britney Spears marked a not so great memory from my childhood. And then there's the soundtrack to the K-Drama Boys Over Flowers because I listened to it constantly on vacation in Vietnam, my most favourite and intense holiday of my life to this day.

Song that makes you cry?

When by Dodie Clark. I choke up when I sing it and realize how accurate the lyrics are in my life.

Favourite song from a musical?

See I'm Smiling in The Last Five Years.

Song you hate the most?

Anything very repetitive and boring with trashy lyrics in the mainstream charts. Just no. Reason why I do not even turn on the radio anymore.

Your favourite song of all time?

This is too hard for me being someone who has a playlist for EVERYTHING.

Hope you enjoyed reading about the soundtrack of my life! Maybe you were inspired to take on this tag as well.

Until then – stay groovy,
Arden

Nope, not my boyfriend. Boy, I wish. It's Exo's Byun Baekhyun and I like him on my lockscreen because he makes me happy. GROW UP, HANNIE.

In the life

– Exams are coming up so there's not much happening that I could elaborate on much. I'm continuing with therapy and filling out all kinds of forms to figure out what's wrong with me, basically. I feel much better regarding me being sick for weeks and I'm getting back into writing and updating my stories on Wattpad and feeling pretty productive.
– Oftentimes I find myself writing instead of studying for my exams which is great and a curse at the same times because Hannie, what are you doing? You should be studying, instead you're feeling super inspired to be writing. I wish the writer in me would pick better timing.
– I purchased a daily planner which I'm excited about and am currently waiting for it to arrive. A full post about it will be up soon! I'm getting pretty good at organizing my duties and sorting out my life which is a mess.
– I am currently recording covers and podcasts with my new Blue Yeti and am excited to start my Soundcloud account for that. Be on the lookout!
– I realized that I have to get out more and make more plans with people. I've been isolating myself, taking being introverted as an excuse and then feeling lonely and depressed. I'm starting to get out more on my own terms and upping my socializing skills because that is what I lack. If you'd be interested in a post on this, let me know in the comments and I'd love to write about it.

New-Ins

On the search for the perfect lip stick for me (I am quite picky and don't actually know anything about lipsticks, nor do I use them often but I do look for great shades and consistencies a lot) I came across the Stylenanda 3CE Matte Lip Stick in the shade 'Warm & Sweet' by Lily Maymac. I absolutely adore Lily and have always loved her lip sticks so I'd decided to purchase one of those that she had been promoting. I'm in love with the shade and the package is so cute.

Music

  • C2C's Down The Road was playing at a friend's birthday party last night and I loved the vibes.
  • Stay by Blackpink is a wonderful song that I, to be frank with you, only listen to covered by A.C.E. once again. I recorded a cover for this so naturally I've been listening to it a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to put the cover up soon.

Watching

As I'm currently not allowing myself to watch any shows because of my tight schedule where I must. not. procrastinate, I've been only allowing myself to watch Storytime YouTubers for entertainment, like:
  • Natalia Taylor
  • Nikki Glamour
  • HeyParis

All of these gorgeous ladies have interesting, juicy stories to tell and I enjoy listening to their talking a lot. Even though Nikki and Paris are more of the louder people, I definitely adore how hilarious they bring their stories across.

As I've been struggling with an ongoing cold for almost two weeks and was restricted so much in my daily life that the workaholic in me got really annoyed, I came up with some remedies to beat the cold in this cold weather! (Update: I still can't hear out of my ear, fun!)

Stay hydrated. Drink a lot! Water or tea, doesn't matter. Best is some ginger, honey and lemon in your tea. Keep a bottle next to you at all times and drink so your throat doesn't get worse with that cough. Warm liquids might also ease congestion by increasing mucus flow! Alcohol, coffee and sodas that are caffeinated are known to make dehydration even worse, though!

Rest. Don't be as stupid as me and overwork yourself when having a cold when you should be taking time to heal. Your body needs that. Leave those tasks for later or tomorrow and stay in bed.

Shower hot. I found that this helped me a lot because when I was young, my mum used to put ginger and all kinds of fruits in hot water and I had to hold my head over the bowl with a towel over my head for quite some time. The heat helps me because it moisturises your nasal passages and it'll definitely relax you. I did not even cough once while taking those steamy showers.

Blow your nose often! Get it all out instead of sniffing mucus back. Throw away those tissues and wash your hands. To prevent earache when blowing hard, press a finger over one nostril while you blow gently to clear the other.

Add moisture to the air. Open the windows and don't keep the heater on constantly without having ventilated a few times.

Sleep with a bigger or an extra pillow under your head to help with the drainage of the nasal passages.

Sore throat? Gargle salted water (1/4 to 1/2 spoon of salt dissolved in warm water) to soothe a sore and scratchy throat immediately, at least temporary.

Use a saline nasal spray to help break down the annoying mucus.

Put mentholated salve under your nose that help you breathe more comfortable if you apply it a bit underneath your nostrils. My mum always gives me some Asian green watery salve and up until now I don't even know what it is called but maybe Vietnamese fellows can help me out? Haha.

What do you do when you have a cold? Hope this helped some of you. Get better soon, sniffy noses! A post on how to prevent getting colds will be up soon as well, be sure to come back soon.

Until then – stay warm,
Arden

What to do when you have a cold?

If you're not familiar with Polyvore, I think I should explain something. Polyvore is a website and app that helps you discover outfit ideas and come up with your own. You can look at others' outfit sets and make your own. All the items will be automatically displayed underneath your set with price and brand for others to see where to buy the items. I think Polyvore is an amazing tool to show what your kind of style is and also be inspired by others'.

I decided to sign up and play around for a bit and today I'm here to show you three of my first ones. They're all pretty vintage based and not very appropriate for the weather at the moment – which just shows that I can't wait for warmer weather to be back.

Will We Meet Again? is a set inspired for the style I prefer when going out for a day, like going to the movies, going to see museums or see plays, like going on a short trip. It's casual, yet trendy, not much hanging around or being in the way.

Today I'll Show You The Real Me is a set inspired by the 90's. My mother used to wear such jeans and shoes back in the day and I thought it would be fun to revive it. Casualties for staying in at a friend's or going to the coffee shop for a read.

I've Got Homework is a set dedicated to college days. It's cute, it's trendy, it's casual. You might have noticed by now, I tend to go for casual always. And that's kind of a must for college, in my opinion. Not much clutter around, just an easy outfit.

Now tell me, do you use Polyvore? What do you think of these sets? If you fancy, you can follow me on Polyvore here! Can't wait to look through yours.

Until then – stay groovy,

Today I'm happy to talk about my favourite magazine out there. The themessyheads.com team has recently launched their second issue on their "Messy Heads" magazine and after purchasing and receiving it, I thought I'd share the love. I actually do love their blog as well so make sure to check it out! I really think you'd enjoy their content.

The Messy Issue is a quarterly published magazine that can be purchased on their site, in their shop. Each issue focuses on one specific theme in depth, Issue 1 on finding yourself and your true purpose and Issue 2 on being a rebel in all kinds of the sense. The issues are displaying the editors' thoughts, featured influential social media creators' input, interviews with their contributors and gorgeous photography (mostly vintage inspired which I absolutely love) and invite the reader to participate in thinking about each topic themselves.
The weird name “The Messy Heads” was chosen because we want you to know right from the get-go that we are not seeking perfection. You won’t find how to get perfect hair, say the right thing to guys, or learn 10 ways to lose 10 pounds before summer. We want you to realize that perfection is unattainable, and life is better lived messy.

I love the Messy Heads blog and magazine because I admire how raw, unfiltered, yet deeply thought over and uncut their content is. The way the editor Emma Mercury put everything together is just so lovely, making me excited to flip through the pages of the magazines because they are so aesthetically pleasing to look at as well. The little snippets and short stories really awaken the inspiration for the writer in me and I am looking forward to many more issues to read.

Have you heard of the Messy Heads before?

Until then – stay messy,

In the life

– I've been sick the past, like, two weeks so that was great! Blocked and runny nose, painful throat, nonstop coughing... All that jazz. It turned out to be the flu and I did feel like I was dying and barely got out of bed – and when I did, I couldn't talk to people and had to remain communicating with sign language and ridiculous pantomime. A post on beating colds upcoming!

– Slowly everything is coming together. I found someone who would take over my flat since I'm moving to London upcoming March for six months and everything is being planned. I'm so glad I have "one less problem" to take care of.

– Exams are coming up and I'm in the midst of preparing for them. Beating procrastination isn't all too easy but I'm working hard because I know the disappointment in myself will be horrendous if I don't pass the exams because of the amount of shows I watched instead of studying.

Watching

Since I had my best friend Lu here with me for a few days, we did end up watching two K-Dramas.

Dream High

For me it was a re-watch of Dream High and I'm glad I watched it again because some lessons in there are really inspirational and let's talk about the music! Love. Dream High is about six unlikely students at Kirin High School with the dream of becoming K-Pop idols. They learn to develop their skills while they start to develop unlikely feelings for each other. Each one of them has their own strengths and weaknesses but they strive to debut with the support and guidance of each other. A fun tale about friendship, competition, jealousy and personal growth which I would definitely recommend.

Goblin

In ancient times, Kim Shin is an unbeatable general in wars until the young King becomes jealous of him and kills him. Kim Shin becomes a Goblin, possessing an immortal life – first seen as a blessing but then turning out to be an endless curse. Closer to the present day, Kim Shin is living with an amnesiac Grim Reaper and has waited 900 years for his human bride to end his immortal life.

Everything about this show had us hooked since the beginning and we did only get to sleep at 6 in the morning. Totally recommended for anyone who enjoys fantasy, a crossing of Goblin and Grim Reaper, their hilarious banters and amazing parallels and character development.

Music

  • I am deeply in love with the Goblin Soundtrack, especially the song "Stay With Me" by Punch and EXO's Chanyeol.
  • This Ex's and Oh's cover by Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens is my new religion.
  • Ed Sheeran is back with new songs and I cannot be happier!
  • A.C.E is a Korean group that hasn't even debuted yet but has gained popularity already by uploading singing and dancing covers. And boy, I am in love with these vocals. No offence to Blackpink but A.C.E really have the ability to make the original songs seem dull.

What have you been enjoying this past week?

Until then – stay cozy,

Vietnam, on the way to and inside of Da Lat, some time ago (I think it might have been 2013 but my memory sucks. Which is also why I don't remember the names of these places at all). I've been on the road with my family for a day or two or more in a caravan just driving towards mountains and through forests and packed streets of Vietnam. I miss it so I'm posting this photo palette.

A huge, cute park with a lot of symbols for love that we stumbled across on our way to Da Lat.

I think we were on our way to get ice cream from the other side of the street. Blurry model: my younger cousin.

We went to a water park for a short time and I happened to be very fascinated by this huge fish not moving an inch.

My little baby cousin being playful on some benches in a park where I got bit by a hundred mosquitos.

I was sitting on the back of my cousin's motorbike and looking over the lake in the middle of Ha Dong's city.

My aunt and baby cousin waiting for the rest of the family to get ready for our little adventure.

Morning on December 29th of last year (if I can remember correctly)

So ... no Squarespace. At least not for now. I feel so sorry as I keep changing and switching and tweaking my design and everything. I'm the absolute worst and sincerely apologize to you, my readers. How annoying is this? I never settle for anything it seems. But there's a reason for why I migrated back to Blogger and left Squarespace.

Short answer: Money. Longer answer: I sat down before New Year's Eve and realized that I do need to cut down on expenses. And Squarespace was one of those expenses. I'm sad I had to leave but I hope I'll be able to migrate back in the future. Or not. Anything can happen.

Until then I hope you still like to visit my blog even though I'm an indecisive little piece of poo! But I can promise I will stay with this look and host for now and won't change in between too much because it does require lots of work.

As I type this I am sick in bed with a slight fever, a horrifying sounding cough and a runny nose. I look like Rudolph the reindeer and sound like Donald the duck. But what's new.

I actually purchased a great design on Etsy only to come to realize that a blogger I follow has the same template. Technically I do have the right to use it but I don't like looking like a copy-cat, nor do I like to use the same design as someone else because I want to keep their and my own originality. Kind of like wearing the same dress. Too bad I don't get a refund for the template, haha. But here I am with this new design and hope you all like the facelift! See it as a facelift for the new year.

Blog posts will be posted rather regularly again from this update on and do feel free to ask me questions for the next Q&A coming this month below in the comments.

Don't hate me too much hehe,

A long time ago I started this thing called 8tracks which is a site for playlists and mix tapes and I was obsessed with that, seriously. I created a bunch of playlists and that's how I started making them more often. Yesterday I got back into it and found my "old account" and here I am with a playlist that is titled smooth morning because it's a great companion for a smooth winter morning where you kind of just lay in bed for a few minutes before actually waking up.
