Trial work & Goals

To keep you updated with my new part-time job, I spent some hours this week trying out the work and I'm excited to start. I think to stay openminded and positive is the best state of mind you can have to start out in a new work place. To live consciously means to do the work you like to do instead of the work you're thrown into. Make sure you keep it that way once you start out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cute drama based off the novel Cinderella And Four Knights by Baek Myo. It's been a while since it aired so I'm kind of late to it but it didn't take long for me to start watching when I saw the cast. If you're familiar with the K-Drama scene, you might be able to agree with me that Ahn Jae Hyun is an absolute babe.

Eun Ha-Won has a bright personality and a strong set of morals, but she is unhappy at home as she's unattached from her father, step-mother and step-sister and also mistreated by said people. Ha-Won works various part-time jobs to pay for her upcoming university tuition fees and also for the storage of her mother's ashes at the cemetery since they had been removed due to unpaid bills by her father. Meanwhile, three are spoiled cousins live together in the mansion called Sky House. With their different personalities – a cold guy, a playboy and a musician – they don't get along too well. One day, their grandfather orders his 3 grandsons to attend his 5th wedding ceremony. Hyun-Min, the playboy, doesn't want to go, but he hires Ha-Won for 3 hours and takes her to his grandfather's wedding ceremony. His plan is to upstage his grandfather's wedding ceremony with the surprise appearance of Ha-Won as his fake fiancée. There, the grandfather witnesses Ha-Won's no-nonsense attitude and decides to hire her as a live-in butler at the Sky House. He hopes she is able to change the ways of his grandsons.

Today's post will be a lot of rambling and maybe even confusing. But getting that out of the way, here goes nothing. My journey to therapy sessions that I desperately need.

Realizing you need therapy isn't pretty at first, that I can say. I never thought I'd be "one of them". Thinking that way is almost offensive, shame on me. But that is exactly what I thought. Back then. Back then when I thought I had it all together. God, was I wrong.

There's so much in my life, not just what's going on right now, and I'm not only talking about the every day struggles in my life currently. There's also my past, the things I've done, the things I haven't done, the things that were done to me.

And the people who tainted what I loved and the people that I hated that I loved and the ones I hated but loved. Nothing has a formula. And I need help. I always needed help, just never wanted to accept that. I was so very convinced it was okay to feel so off, to feel anxious, to feel depressed 5 days out of 7.

No, it's not. It's not okay. It's okay that it's not okay but if it's not okay then I can change it. Maybe not over night. Of course not. But step after step after step after crawling. I don't want to feel like this anymore, not when I know exactly how I will wake up tomorrow and how I will view the things in life that should be fucking beautiful.

Everything is a mess. I am a mess. Everyone is a mess at some point. We're all in a web and we struggle to get out of it and some people succeed and some people give up because it's gotten comfortable.

Don't get comfortable. Get better. So that's why I called up all the therapists I could find in this town of crazy people and I kept calling even though most were already full of patients and I kept calling until one of them told me to wait a week until she knew whether she could put me on the list for sure.

"There are loads of first sessions with patients that I still haven't had. And it's not sure whether they'll need to have further therapy. I'll let you know if some space will clear up."

I already know that I would definitely need to go into further therapy because this is a step I take because I know I'm unwell. A step that I take because I know I'll cry before even telling her my name. That's going to be a hell of a first session.

Until then – take care of yourself,

RON's Bakery by Backhaus is located in Dresden, Neustadt, on 9 Alaunstreet, 01099 Dresden. Their opening hours are 7 A.M. until 9 P.M. daily. They offer sustainable, fresh food to go and to warm up on site. You'll find all things sandwiches, burgers, baguettes, wraps, salad, muesli, donuts, cake, cupcakes, fresh juice, smoothies and yoghurt.

The atmosphere is definitely a comfortable vibe, with soft music playing in the background and the smell of freshly baked bread lingering. The light is lovely, so is the decor as you will see in following photos. I got myself a chicken baguette and devoured it after the staff made it warm for me.

The price is definitely acceptable and I recommend the quality the bakery offers. All in all, this might be my new favourite bakery in Neustadt and am looking forward to getting my treats before and after uni.

Job interview

I've been on the lookout for part-time jobs that would fit well with my resume and I finally scored one in the hotel industry in this beloved town of Dresden. Some of you know from my last Fin Of The Week that I pushed myself to do some networking at a job fair and I already received a call. Happy go lucky, I walked into my job interview rather confidently and was greeted by my excitement about finally possibly working at a hotel as pretty and big. I'd never worked at a hotel before so that was quite exciting and promising.

Life is strange

I don't know about you but recently I've been into watching my favourite youtubers play through this game called Life Is Strange and oh my goodness, did I fall in love with the plot and the soundtrack! If you're into Indie and enjoy Angus & Julia Stone, I definitely recommend the soundtrack which you can find here. I am seriously still obsessing over this game, it's still on my mind and it kind of freaks me out because it was just a game but damn it did leave a mark on me. So basically it's about a girl who goes to Blackwell Academy, a boarding school in Arcadia Bay. She loves photography and came back to town after 5 years where now she meets her estranged best friend. One day she realizes that she has the power to rewind time and is out and about to find the missing girl who vanished all of a sudden, Rachel Amber.

Doddleoddle

Some of you may be familiar with Dodie Clark, or Doddleoddle on YouTube, and know that she makes music and is known for her soft voice and catchy yet laid back and cute melodies. She's got to be one of my favourite musicians out there in her field and I was so excited when I heard that her EP is going to be out soon! I legit freaked out because I already know I will be listening to it non-stop. She also recently made her original song Sick Of Losing Soulmates available on Spotify and it's been playing since forever. This woman never fails to amaze me and is rather frankly my aspiration to be doing music and singing.

Sometimes life gets a little bit too much. Stress at your work place or at uni can quickly turn into personal stress and take up your daily life. Everyone needs to unwind sometimes and that is totally okay. Remember that it's not a shame to pass up on social events or parties sometimes to recharge for your own healthy mental being. Oftentimes we don't even realize that we're stressed but soon find ourselves ticking off about any- and everything.

These are some ways that will hopefully help you unwind.

Unplug

Take some time off your day unplugging from all devices. Get yourself some me-time and switch off your laptop, your phone, anything that will distract you or cause additional stress even. Seriously, turn that all off. I spent a week without wi-fi and without any device for games of any sort once when I was on holiday with my family at the Baltic Sea and I can only say it's the best feeling to be away from all devices for a while. Even though I can't always afford to be unplugged for such a long time because of my schedules and uni but it already helps for a few hours in your day.

Stay positive

Constant whining and nagging won't make you feel better at all. Sure, it's totally normal to vent about whatever is upsetting you but whining about your ridiculous amount of workload that you still haven't started yet is not going to make that workload go away on its own and disappear just because you whine about it. Instead, get that positive perspective and think about it in another way: "Once I get that done, I'll be done with it for a long time" or "Once I'm finished, I'll be able to relax with a nice movie". If you need the motivation, don't drag your spirit down by constantly whining about it. In the end you'll be so content with yourself.

Exercise

A great way to get off some steam is exercise. May it be simple yoga or running around the blocks, it'll help with the heart pumping, your health in general and your freeing mind. It'll seriously do you good. I know for a fact that yes, you might dread exercise of any kind but once you get to it, it does make you feel great afterwards!

Take a long bath

Long baths are my favourite things when it comes to unwinding and relaxing. Get those lush bubble bath bombs, set some candle lights, turn on some mellow music or turn on a nice show or even enjoy the bath in silence.

Keep your room/flat tidy

I can't be the only one who feels so much better and at ease after tidying my flat or room or work space. Everything seems so much more "in order" and "settled" that it does help with reducing the stress you're feeling. I hate coming home to a messy flat because I already know while stepping in that I won't be able to find anything in my mess, that I'll have to tidy everything up eventually and that I'll feel dirty and unsettled while attempting to study or write. Nah, that doesn't work for me. If anything, mess will increase my stress so I get rid of the mess that I can get rid of at least. That's definitely a start.

What else?

Read your favourite book / Watch your favourite film / Spend time on your hobbies /

Put on calming music / Meditate / Vent to someone / Watch some youtube videos

Get more sleep / Go for a walk / Go on a long drive / Avoid too much caffeine

Can you guys relate? What do you do to unwind and de-stress? Do let me know in the comments and tell me if you do any of these things!

Until then - stay cozy,

Ways To De-Stress

Hello my lovely readers! I'd love to introduce to you a new series on my blog that is called Fin Of The Week which will basically be a weekly roundup of what I've been up to, what's been happening, what I've been liking. I thought this would be a great way to reflect on the little details and events during the week that usually just rush past me like they never happened or weren't that significant when I know they are.

Getting back into the uni lifestyle

So my third semester has officially started this week and I think I told you this before but I actually changed university. I'm still majoring in Tourism and Event management, I only changed the facility I'm studying in. I haven't been too content with my former uni so I thought it was time to move on rather than whine about it all the time. So this is a new beginning for me - a new, fresh and exciting new beginning.

I definitely have to work on my habits, though, since three months of semester break have been too long and I got so much less productive in that time. Shame on me, seriously! But I'll get back to it now that I have lectures and homework and a study load again. Not gonna lie, I actually do enjoy learning and studying. It's just the stress that I cause myself by procrastinating that makes it unbearable and annoying.

Maintaining long distance friendships

This week I reunited with one of my closest friends and it felt so good to have her back in town. I used to have many long distance friendships but most of them slipped away, as it always happens. But now that I'm growing up and learning things about myself and the relations we build with other people, I can say that I do my best to maintain friendships that are important to me.

It's crazy to think that I once had a shit load of friends but now I kind of go by the selection principle - get rid of those friends I don't need or who don't need me and don't ever contact me anyway and stay close and active with the ones I do cherish. That can be harder with long distance friends but it is manageable. Both parties just have to pull on the same string.

Hunting for opportunities

With my semesters passing by, I've learned that a huge point in my major is NETWORKING. Making connections with people and brands, companies and hotels so that you are able to have a range of connections later on that could help you with finding a job or more. So this week I attended a job fair that took place at my uni's campus. I printed my CV like 10 times and wore a casual but smart outfit, ready to go and make myself known some more. I am a very quiet introverted person but sometimes I have to push myself and this week I definitely did.

Until then - stay groovy,

You guys already know I'm an absolute tea lover and that my intake basically consists of tea, tea, tea. So Starbucks has launched their new - or not so new, yet popular - tea via Teavana and let me just say I'm in love with the flavours so when I walked into Starbucks one day and ordered a tea, I was out and about to buy them bags to take them home.

So what does TEAVANA offer?

TEAVANA tea is made of full loose leaves and the blends are inspired by culinary trends and global tea cultures. That means their range goes from black, green, white to oolong, herbal and matcha flavour, all originated from the one and only Camellia sinensis. TEAVANA also offer teaware like kettlers and mugs and gifts on their website. There's also a cute little quiz for you to take to find out what your cup of tea is! :-)

Now I haven't tried all the flavours so if you'd like to take a look at their complete range, care to view it here? In the wide range you can narrow down your preferences by caffeine intake and flavour.

At the moment they're promoting their fall shop which offers all things pumpkin spice, apple cider and pomegranate cider!

Which one do I like?

I purchased the Emperor's Clouds & Mist Green Tea "with light and toasty-sweet notes" about three times already and I still love it a lot. I've been a green tea drinker since childhood since my family used to drink traditional Vietnamese green tea every day. Though it was rather strong freshly brewed from the kettle, I enjoyed it nevertheless. For fall though, I definitely prefer a sweeter green tea.

The package for this tea has 12 tea bags of 100% green tea inside, though the amount of bags and the prices vary from flavour to flavour so I cannot make a general statement about that. The brewing time is 2 minutes and its process is very clean. It's also no problem to keep the bag in for more than one refill.

What is your favourite tea? Let me know!

Waking up to morning mist slowly clearing over my windows, I stretch my arms out in my bed's warm comfort. Tea. Biscuits. Gingerbread. Warm bread from the bakery. Let the breeze wave through the walls of my flat as it says hello to my chilly arms reaching for my favourite sweater. Crisp winds and grey skies, looking down at us, a hazy blur of sunshine peeking through from time to time. Film nights and study sessions. Third semester in college. Catching up with spooky TV shows. Knitwear and halloween vibes. Romantic Korean dramas. Candle lights all day, at all times. Rereading mellow literature. The struggle of deciding which tea to buy this time. Cozy blankets and old books. Cold autumn air for the hazy, clamped mind of a poet. Dripping tones of lovely rain on concrete and wood and sad human skin. Oh, is this autumnal.

Until then - stay cozy,
Arden

Autumnal

10/09/2016

Until then - stay cozy,
Arden

Now that fall has come around, I'm back to feeling the cozy vibes I've been longing for. Summer is great, though I have to admit that my body tolerates wind and rain better than the terrible heat there was this summer. I like the cozy atmosphere, the comforting sound of the rain, the refreshing breeze in my flat at night, scented candles and sweaters.

At the moment I'm feeling a bit down so I figured I could at least share my rainy soundtrack with you guys. I keep adding songs to this song so the playlist is getting quite long. Maybe you'll find yourself listening along to this one on those rainy days.

Someone told me that our lives aren't a big thing,
they pass on the instant as discoloured roses.
Someone told me that the time that pass is a bastard
that is making topcoats from our grief.

– Quelqu'un m'a dit / Measure

Good times for a change
see, the luck I've had
can make a good man
turn bad
So please please please
let me, let me, let me
let me get what I want
this time

– Please, please, please let me get what I want / She & Him

If all you can rely on is
The feel of your feet on the wet floor.
If all you can depend on is all movement gives you some direction then
Begin again
You're no calendar
You're no concrete plan
Begin again
Don't waste your time waiting for someone to tell you that

Begin Again / Measure

Power to the people
We don't want it
We want pleasure
And the T.V.s try to rape us
And I guess that they're succeeding
And we're going to these meetings
But we're not doin' any meetin'
And we're trying to be faithful but we're cheatin', cheatin', cheatin'
I'm the hero of the story
Don't need to be saved

Hero / Regina Spektor

I hope you're all good and enjoying the last summer days and the first fall days as well. What do you like most about fall? What are you most excited about? And what songs do you listen to on rainy days? Do you fall into a pit of lazy days and sad songs or do you blast the happiest songs?

Until then - stay cozy,

Arden
